2006-12-30/ WISHING EVERYONE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR & MERRY BELATED XMAS!!!
Jon and I had a very relaxing and peaceful Christmas with our families despite the kilometres on the road to and from Kitchener and Quebec. It was great to see all the little ones, how much they have grown and changed. Although Christmas went by as fast as it came, we took lots of photos and video footage to cherish these times and for Boutsy, who wasn't able to join us this year :( We miss her lots and hope to see her very soon ;)! Here's to Boutsy..enjoy the pics!!

Tomorrow is NYE and that means Diplo! I am so excited!! Have a safe and fun New Year's Eve! And... DON"T DRINK AND DRIVE, EVER!!!

Here's a great jam by the kids over at Radiozero:

2006-12-12/ TIS THE SEASON TO SHOP (EVEN IF ITS PLAY SHOPPING)
Yesterday while I was at home sick, I spent what little waking moments I had surfing the net. As I was seaching, I thought if money wasn't a concern to me what would be the most ridiculously expenisve to the sublime gift I'd buy for some of my friends and family (as a joke though). Here's some of what I found:

PET CLONING
So far, the only known successful dog clone is Snuppy the puppy, but some day, perhaps in the not too distant future, cloning beloved pets will be possible. Surely you'll need to save up the cash for such a procedure, but much more importantly, you can gene bank your pet now, with a CryoSure service- having your animal's cells cultured now (just a small sample is taken and your pet isn't harmed) and then cryopreserving them in liquid nitrogen until you, science, and the world are ready for clones. Gene banking is $1500, with a $150 annual fee for cryogenic storage.

30 DAYS OF NAPKIN FOLDING
How many different ways are there to fold a napkin? Yes, you're right, 2436! Well done! Only 30 of them are any good though. Those of you who are obsessed with dining presentation (I'm sure there's a term for the art of setting tables), or are just plain bored, should check out this new book. 30 Days of Napkin Folding covers 30 cool ways to fold your napkins so as to either impress your guests or scare them into never coming for dinner again.

YOU'RE A GENUIS: CALCULATOR RING
Being nerdy is so cool these days. And for those who want to flaunt their geekiness there's a calculator ring just calling out your name. "Genius" is what everyone will think you are when you're wearing this accessory. Because who else would have the bright idea to wear an ironic and funky little ring like this? Yeah, snicker all you want, but as time has shown, nerds do rule the world. So get a little "Dr. Evil" and flaunt your mensa status. Be proud. (Now if only the little calculator actually worked.)

That's all for now! Have fun shopping!

2006-12-11/ WEEKEND BUGGER
The weekend had started off so well with my work xmas dinner and Greg's party Friday night and then BAM! Saturday night I was struck by the stomach flu. Just like that, I had fallen ill to the same bug that I've been avoiding catching since it started stalking my school kids since Thanksgiving, not the American one that just passed but the one we Canadians celebrated over 2 months ago!! Being a good samaritan as I am and looking out for the public's interest I decided to take preventive action to cease the spreading and called in sick to work a day in advance. Talk about planning! Yesterday which was Sunday was pretty much a write off. This morning, I was able to get out of bed before noon only to find myself horizontal again on the couch. I was still achy and exhausted and my appetitie was depleted. By mid afternoon something miraculous must've happened cause my aches and pains were gone. But still, I couldn't stomach a lot of food. However, I knew I was getting better by the hour and it would only be time untilI my appetite came back and I can actually eat some real food and the thought of that made me really happy!

2006-11-11/ 11:11 PM
Hi, its Saturday evening and I'm chilling out listening to music. I've been loving a lot of the music coming out of Sweden these days, ie. Lo-Fi Fnk, Robyn, Peter Bjorn and John, The Knife, Jenny Wilson and Marit Bergman. I'm deciding what to do now that my plans have been canceled. Should I finish my mix, surf, clean, organize, read, cook or write?? I think I actually wanna write. If it was any other night I would have chosen anything but writing, its really not my forte however tonight my mind is clouded by thoughts and I think a long ramble will do some good.

So, I just got a call from my girlfriend and she doesn't want to go out anymore. We had plans to go to MILK. But lastnight, she put her back out somehow during her sleep. So all day today she had to walk around hunched over at her girlfriend's bridal shower. Poor girl. If its not her skin, its something else. I don't think I would have gone anyway. I'm still feeling REALLY crappy from lastnight's rendevous with Gin, Mary and Jane and a whole bunch of other mixtures that shouldn't have been. A bunch of us went to the Great Hall to see the RUB (DJ Ayres, Cosmo Baker and DJ Eleven). I had seen them before with A-Trak back in June. That show was great! This show minus A-Trak, I wasn't too impressed. Maybe I was hoping for something else, like new music, new sounds? They played stuff I've heard millions of times before. Nonetheless, we had a good time. We made the best of it i guess. Being drunk helped just a tad. I met some of Jon's new co-workers and saw some old friends and that was all good. What wasn't so great was waking up this morning. Actually, I lied. Worse was going to bed! We had Julian and Julie over after for what was suppose to be quick night cap that turned into a three hour affair with no other than Gin, Mary and Jane. Yes, they crept back into the mix. They weren't so nice to me this time after the second round. And it was way passed silly hour at that point too and both my bed and the toilet were hollering for me. I didn't know which one would come first, bed or toilet so I opted for the more optimistic choice of getting horizontal as quickly as I could in hopes that the sick feeling would go away. I wasn't so quick to get horizontal though. I actually stumbled to the couch cause it was closest to me then decided the bed would be much better so I changed my course towards the bedroom and during the slow motion flight there I had a brilliant idea of getting undressed on the way so when I got to my bed all I'd have to do was jump in. I wasn't particulary the smoothest stripper either. A few stumbles here and there over my clothes I eventually made it without getting sick. Lying down felt good, for about a minute. My head started pounding, the room started spinning and the sick feeling was on full force. I couldn't fight it anymore... I was going to have to visit the toilet. I'm sure you know how it ends.. I really don't have to get into details here. Recaping the night has already brought some ill feeling back. Ugh!

Needless to say, I felt quite alright this morning compared to Jon. He was in great discomfort. I dragged him out with me anyway to meet up with Carmen for pho noodle soup. The best food ever for a hangover! Highly recommended.

Speaking of food, I haven't had dinner yet. Gonna go raid the fridge!

ps. my love. i think i like this version better...

2006-11-02/ SUPER-SIZED TV REMOTE
Sorry, its been awhile... I've been busy working, partying, editing and dabbling with LIVE. A new playlist is coming soon which I'm excited about!! Yay, new tunes! For now, here's another product that's..well, should i say... silly?

The first thing I thought when I saw the picture above was: When gadgets are getting smaller and sleeker by the day, who would want a large bulky remote control? Well, according to the company, a large remote provides ease of use and no possibility of losing it. One way to look at it: Since plasmas and LCDs are getting larger by the day, there's no reason why their controllers should lag behind.

As for technical specs, they're the usual for a universal remote with support for six devices including TV, VCR, DVD player, satellite, cable and auxiliary A/V device. The company claims that IR codes for most popular A/V devices are included. The large buttons glow in the dark so that you can continue to use the remote even when the lights are switched off. If you thought that being so big would mean more batteries, no worries there – all it requires are 2 AA batteries.

One thing is for sure - families that have one of these are never going to have those panic attacks when their favourite TV show is about to come on and the remote control is nowhere to be seen. If this is important to you, the $35 that this will cost you will be money well spent.

Available online at the Brookstone shop.

2006-10-04/ iKARAOKE
Consider yourself warned. iKaraoke is coming to a home near you. Griffin, which makes some of the smartest devices for the iPod, has devised a diabolical system where the iKaraoke sends the music from your iPod to your stereo MINUS the lead vocals.

That means all your drunken friends can contribute the lead . With the mic, you can pause music, scan back and forward, even temporarily add the vocals in case you get lost, or add in reverb effects.

iKaraoke hooks up to your stereo via line-in cable, or wirelessly through your FM receiver. It's going to be VERY popular at Christmas parties this year. It's due out next month at Griffin Technology and your neighbourhood Apple store, and will cost approx. $49.99.

-------------------------------
* Finally had some time to update my playlist today. Its been long overdue, I know. But how can you get sick of Jose Gonzalez?! That man makes beautiful music. I have a few more tunes to add yet but these ten should keep your feet tapping and minds provoked until I find time to upload more. I promise to keep my posts updated regularly from this day fourth. I know I have been neglecting you. I'm sorry.

2006-09-19/ THANKO EDESK

I love gadgets and new inventions (i.e. the banana guard especially!) but what I love most about them are how they are marketed. Here's a simple, practical product for people on the go, literally speaking. Wish I had this five years ago when I was driving around the city shooting real estate.

Most people hate driving their car to the office in the morning, but what if your car is the office?! It'll take you 30 seconds to get to work, you can eat a drive-through meal at your desk, and you can even sit in a Starbucks' carpark using their Wi-Fi connection without buying a coffee! All thanks to Thanko's eDesk. The eDesk clips onto the steering wheel of a car, allowing you to work on the go. Not actually on the go though, that would be a bit dangerous. The desk even clips onto the back of the driver and passenger seats, letting you have complete team meetings from inside your car!

Thanko's eDesk is only available in Japan at the moment, where I guess it will probably stay.

2006-08-16/ WEST COAST FOREST FIRE

Its been four days since I've been back from the west coast and it sorta feels like part of me is still there. Part of me feels empty (and it doesn't help not having Internet to distract me from my thoughts, the other option is TV but that gives me a headache). I miss it more than I had anticipated. I really miss the view we had of the mountains and the ocean, the clean air and moderate temperatures, easy access to nature, and of course my sister, and Raul (now that I've gotten to know him a little more). He's very cool ;) and they both seem really happy except this one time when they were re-arranging their place and ...ooh I shouldn't go there (just kidding). I am, however, happy to be home in this metropolis that I often take for granted. Having visited the big cities in the west (Vancouver, Victoria, San Francisco and a few inbetween. I realized how lucky I am to be living in a city that represents so much art and culture and ethnicity and one which also has a great music scene. If I could make my own city, I'd have Toronto (minus all the violence) with Vancouver's backdrop and their amazing waterfront. Add to the flavour, San Francisco's architecture and crazy hilly streets. And top it off with Tofino's surf, this would be mecca utopia. Of course, home is not the same without friends and family and therefore I would gave everyone a free get out of jail card (cuz there's no crime) and put them up in a beautiful penthouse overlooking Boardwalk... suddenly Aerosmith's song "dream on" pulsates profusely in my temples...errr.

As a means of coping with my post-holiday-partum depression while trying to enjoy the remainder of my summer break, I have turned to the power of music, thrashing-headbanging rock, folk, and electro music that is, to soothe my woes and ease me back to reality. haha (I chuckle now...) I enjoy all kinds of music (cept country, yee-haw!) but sometimes I get stuck into one genre for so long that I forget there are other music out there that I also love. So I have compiled a playlist called the West Coast Forest Fire (the title is another story) that we listened to over the course of our trip and it pretty much encapsulates the feelings, emotions and beautiful imageries I have of the West. Obviously it won't be the same for you but i hope you enjoy them nonetheless and perhaps find your own meaning for them!

2006-08-09/ VANCOUVER NOW... BUT BANANA BUSINESS FIRST
I'm coming out of holiday mode just so I can post this new invention that's going to be the future of "brown-bagging" bananas. Suffering from bruised bananas because they get squashed in your lunch bag? The Banana Guard can help keep your fruit scratch-free. Designed to fit 90% of all bananas, it comes in five brilliant colors, including Mellow Yellow (haha). Also features a secure locking mechanism (to keep the monkeys at bay) and air holes to allow for proper ripening.

Banana Guard is the brainchild of three Canadian emergency room doctors. Apparently their sensitivity to trauma extended to their favourite fruit.

Strangely enough, the only retailer listed on the website for the US is a bicycle parts store?!?!?!? The Canadian network of retailers also includes bicycle parts stores, but adds in golf equipment stores, and even . . . a few kitchen stores . . . imagine that! Guess I’ll stick to ordering online for this one!

2006-07-18/ VANCOUVER SO FAR...
Jon and I arrived in Vancouver Sunday evening and have been really enjoying the city so far. We are right in Yaletown the West end Stanley Park area (See Map) and pretty much close to everything! I mean everything - shops, restaurants, groceries, tennis courts!!, beaches (swimmable ones that is), cafes, Starbucks, Stanley Park, and a plethora of bike/running trails. I ran around Stanley Park today. Very scenic 10k along the shoreline. Boutsy and Raul have been very hospitable. I cannot get over the diverse architecture styles in their neighbourhood which comprises mostly of condo buildings but each building is so unique and different from the next. Not at all like Toronto. Very reminiscent of Cali-forn-i-a. What else? We been relaxing a lot at the beaches and checking in the sites around the Stanley Park area. Want to check out Gas Town and Yale Town and the coastal part of south west Vanvouver where the nude beaches are ;) before we head up and out to Victoria and Tofino this Saturday. Stay tuned.

2006-06-16/ SwiMP3 UNDERWATER MP3 PLAYER
Now that I have found a solution for incorporating music while I'm asleep (refer to the posting - Cozy iTunes Pillow) some other Einstein had to top it and make our accessorized life even better! Forget music while you're sleeping, how about music while your swimming! Brilliant!!

The SwiMP3 Underwater MP3 Player utilizes direct transfer of sound vibrations from the cheekbone to the inner ear to provide an exceptional sound clarity. When the device is placed on any bones of the skull, it leads to vibration of the fluid in the inner ear. Supposedly bone conduction hearing is a safe and well-established sensory capability. I do wonder, however, if it would make me dizzy.

Priced at $199.99 USD, currently, the SwiMP3 only has a 128MB model available, and the capacity cannot be expanded due to its need to be sealed watertight. It can play only MP3 files, but the good news is that you can use the player as deep as 10 feet, it comes with a built-in lithium rechargeable battery that gives you approximately 4 hours playtime, plus, and it’s compatible with both PC and Mac.

Now all I have to do is learn how to swim, and start counting... Was that 1 lap or 10 that I just swam??? :)

Would love to listen to this while swimming at the Bruce.

2006-06-07/ MUSIC FOR YOURSELF FITNESS

I am always amused by the effort that fast food restaurants put forth in trying to escape the “stereotype” of being unhealthy. Especially after the movie Supersize Me came out, it seems a lot of them have been regularly trying to revamp their image with some health related campaign or another.

This time around McDonalds is giving away (until supply lasts) a 15-minute workout video if you order a salad. You can choose between Core, Strength, Cardio and Yoga. Insert the DVD into your player and Maya, McDonalds’ personal virtual instructor, will magically help you work out the quarter pounder with cheese that you ordered along with your salad, because let’s face it, I've never been able to enter a McDonalds and just get salad.

That said, I think I would like the cardio DVD with some new MUSIC!!

2006-05-31/ COZY TUNES PILLOW
I spend most of my day listening to music. Whether I'm listening to my iPod on the bus, or the radio at school, or tunes on the computer at home, music is always there somewhere. One place it's not however, is when I'm asleep. I've been trying to figure out how to crow-bar music into this part of my day for a while now, and was happy to see that Linens 'n' Things has created a comfortable looking music pillow - the Cozy Tunes Pillow. Looking more like a round cushion than a pillow, Cozy Tunes allows any audio device with a headphone output to be plugged into its 3.5mm jack, to provide a gentle dream-altering musical journey to sleep. Alternatively, if you're a student, you could record your study notes to audio, then listen to them as you sleep. This would therefore eliminate the need to study at all, just like I tried when I was a student. What a waste of time. Via www.anythingbutipod.com

2006-05-28/ ROLAND GARROS
Today is the official opening day of the French Open. It marks the first of four grand slam tennis tournaments of the summer and is by far the most exciting to watch. Because its played on clay, the ball's forward velocity is reduced more than on grass, hard courts or indoor carpet, thus reducing the effectiveness of a power game. Points are usually longer as there are fewer winners. Players must be at their physical best. Currently the best Clay Court player is Rafael Nadal, with 53 straight wins on clay. Schedule

2006-05-26/ PUPPY LOVE
Isn't he just the cutest thing you've ever seen? If I could own one dog, I'd snap this pup right up. He's so adorable!! I wonder if he could keep up with me on my runs? Those legs don't look like they were made for running let alone running long distances. I could always push him along with me in a stroller. Or perhaps I can strap him to my back when he's tired and worn out. But, Jon and I have agreed no dogs as long as we're living in the city. He thinks, and I agree with him that its kind of selfish to own one and leave it inside all day. We both grew up outside of the city and the dogs we owned had the space and freedom to run and play all day. It would be nice to have one but with our busy schedule its only fair to us and them that we remain petless.

Here's a good mix for this wet and dreary Friday. Mr. Rain, I don't want you, I don't need you, I don't love you anymore!!... Good to see this weekend is looking bright 'n hot for some short shorts and a sweaty game of looooove ;)

2006-05-24/ NIKE+iPOD RUNNING SHOES
In a move seemingly designed to up my "more shoe than storage " ratio, Nike and Apple have teamed up to build the Nike+iPod shoe, a device which tracks your miles run and calories burned and stores them on your iPod Nano. The Nike+Air Zoom Moire shoes will use the Nike+iPod Sport Kit to display your pace, time, and distance, while also providing audible "feedback" through your headphones. Details on that feedback were not provided, but I find that things like "you were faster yesterday, you fat pig" to be highly motivational. There will be a Nike+ section in the iTunes music store, so ostensibly the Sport Kit will work as some sort of remote control for the regular functions of the iPod. Perhaps there will be audio programs available too, for some sort of "running-dancing" to music routines, just in case being the slowest runner in the park isn't humiliating enough.

Amazing show lastnight by Spank Rock @ the Horseshoe Tavern. Saw him open for M.I.A. back in October and I knew then he would be great to see again. Lastnight, he exceeded all expectations - amazing, amazing! His new album just came out not too long ago. Its called YoYoYoYoYo (not sure how many times Yo comes up but you get the jest). Great album. Its garanteed to make you wanna shake your rompa and more! Great to throw on at the next house party. Also found out about a new artist from Edmonton called Cadence Weapon. He opened up for Spank Rock but unfortunately we got there just on time to see him perform a few songs. Great heavy beats, good MCing. I checked him out today on myspace and really liked what i heard. I Will definitely be seeing more of Mr. Cadence in the near future!

"The Riddim Methodists comprised of DJ C, DJ Flack, Ripley, Kid Kamaleon, Pace and Wayne&Wax takes turns connecting the dots between dubstep, hip-hop, dancehall, bass, merengue, soca, bmore, rai, dub, electro, doo-wop, ragga house, and boston bounce, among others--a genre-mashing jawn that can work in your earbuds and speakerboxxes alike." >> read more ...

The original mix on Lemon-Red is 50 something minutes. For this post, I've snipped out my favourite tunes and condensed it down to 26 minutes. Its still gonna kill my bandwidth but I love this FN shit and I want everyone to hear it! There is a great mix of "My Little Runaway" in the last 5 minutes that is awesomely wicked. Its mixed in with soca, merengue, raggaeton beats. Wicked, wicked stuff!!! << LISTEN >>

2006-04-08/ MYSPACE & BEYOND... ADDED NOTES & SUCH
Aside from the bad asthetics of myspace, there are a lot of great features and advantages to it that no other "free" site has. These are just some of the many features of myspace that makes it rock ...
1) Its easy-to-use interface allows non-web heads to have their own site up in minutes.
2) You can post a variety of media in your profile from photos and videos to music.
3) Its great for networking and connecting with people around the globe. There are over 1 million myspace users.
4) You can instant message, email, send news bulletins and calendar events to your friends.
5) You can blog, rank pics, video, music or send it to your friends.

What else has been on my mind lately?...
1) I've been thinking of getting a separate domain for this blog... maybe khantavy.com? Any suggestions on a name other than my name would be great. Pls. write me.
2) I've been looking at a few content management sites (e.g. bloggers, wordpress especially) that I may use to upgrade this site to in the future.
3) Summer! After lastnight's convoluted discussion with Jon and Inga over flip-flops all I can think about today was hot weather and slipping on a pair of rubber thongs between my winter calluses.
4) Music for next week. The Riddim Method? Hollertronix? Spank Rock? All of which are sooo good!!
5) Spring cleaning. There is a closet that I've neglected to clean and organize since I moved in 2 years ago.
6) Need to do more photo and film shoots!

2006-04-03/ MYSPACE & BEYOND...
I signed up for myspace a while ago but didn't do anything to it until just recently. Last week, I was pretty much obessed with it. I was trying to make it look not-so myspace-age but the whole CSS scripting with unknown classes (styles) was a total pain. You need to know the specific name of a class (style) in order to customize it and blah blah blah. And the thing with classes is that it could be called anything. However, Jon, my personal search wizard (he's really amazing at finding anything on the net) passed over a site that showed how to change background images, text colours, table cell colours, borders etc. which was really cool at first. But more I tinkered and more sites I viewed where people have customized theirs' to death, I realized I hated about 90% of them. Who ever thought of tiling a pic of Canada in their background? Not only is it tacky but you can hardly read the text. Sorry David but you should stick to being a scientist and let the artic seals be artic seals NOT your personal web designer. Sure they're smart and cute but let's face it, they cannot design! So anyway, I've given up on it for now. But your more than welcome to swing by MYSPACE anytime and check me out. If you don't have an account you won't be able to view more than just my profile. For pics and videos you'll need an account. So sign up if you don't have one already then add me as a friend!

Okay, nuff geek talk...

Past weekend was eventful and wicked fun. MSTRKRFT played at Hacienda friday night. It was fun but I wasn't gun-ho on the stuff they were playing. I was expecting to hear stuff like the mixes on their website and then some (electro-clash-house-death-metal) and NOT the techno/trance that they ended up playing. Perhaps their live sets are like this. This was my first show. It was very nostalgic nonetheless. Felt like I was time-warped back 9 years ago to a rave. hehe... Perhaps they will play more E-C-H-D-M at the Mod Club in May. Will I go? ... Maybe? If the sun shines outta my _ _ _ then for sure!

BIG PRIMPIN' was on Saturday and it was EXACTLY what the doctor had ordered for my spring fever ;) - to alter my conscious state 180 degrees with the help and in the company of good friends, to laugh hard and to dance it up hard to music that makes love and world go round and round. Wished I had the camera out for this one.

So for this week, the song goes out to the Big Primpin' crew for organizing these awesome parties and my *friends* who put up with my crap and still love to party it up with me... the music is an excerpt from Caps 'n Jones' DJ set on disco belle. The first Primpin' party, these guys DJed and they were awesome. love'm! << Listen >>

2006-03-27/ BOO HA-HA! TODAY'S BIG SCARE...
You don't know just how FN relieved I am to have my site back up and running without having to click a single mouse. This morning before I even had time to brew my daily cup of tea, I received some online messages asking if my site was down. Automatically I thought no biggie, our server must be down for maintenance or something was wrong on their end. So I left it at that and was about to update the music blog when I received more messages about the site. This got me curious. I can see 1 or 2 people but 6 people getting nuttin' is a cause for concern. So I went online. Got nuttin' from my site = True. Checked Criticalflicker. It was fine. Go back to mine. Still down. Looked closer at the error message - "cannot access directory. Directory not found". Bizarro! Directory should be found! Anyway, to make a short story even shorter, the whole CFGallery directory somehow got wiped off the server. How and by whom, I have no idea except I remember deleting some files the night before but I was positive it wasn't my whole directory?? Anyway, the Copperfields and the Blaines over in Kelowna, BC were able to magically recover my site from the inner working bits 'n bytes of the blackhole. Those guys are the real magicians!

What else? MSTRKRFT this friday, can't wait!! Big Primpin' Party this weekend too. Can't wait!! Also, check out this week song - mstrkrft mixin' bloc party's two more years. Its a killa!

2006-03-14/ NATALIE PORTMAN: GANGSTA RAP
Not too many chicks can pull off the short hair cut well and rap like a real gangsta beotch. Kudos to Natalie! She's my idol! Click HERE to watch.

Took some photos from inside an abandoned factory a few weekends ago. I had to go see what Jon was talking about. He had tried to go in by himself but he got too spooked to really explore. I could see why... it is fuckin' creepy in there. Not sure if it was the "dead bodies in the basement" comment spray painted on the wall right when you come in or just the mere fact the we've watched too many horror movies in our youth. Probably both. Anyway, I couldn't quite get myself to relax and was consciously looking behind my back the whole time so I didn't take many pics. If you ever decide to go into an abandon factory/house my word of advice is this: go with lots of people preferably a gang of ninjas so they can drop kick any pyscho tooth fairies that lurks in shadows ready to pounce on their victim. 2006-02-20/ WINTER GETAWAY
I had a very lovely and relaxing weekend away with Jon. He took me up to a little cabin in the woods just north of Huntsville on Peninsula Lake. It was white all around and very cold (minus 29 to be exact on Saturday and a few feet of snow) but all good for Yellow Tail , whirlpool and getting cozy by the fireplace. The cabin was tucked between the foot of a 60 ft. rock face surrounded by cedar, birch and evergreens and Penninsula Lake. Despite the frigid temperatures we managed to get outside just to make soaking in the whirlpool and laying by the fireplace all the better. We snowshoed out to a ice-fishing hut that was out in the middle of the lake and and the evening we skated under the bright starlit sky. And then came in from the cold to a warm fireplace, red wine, candle lights, and chocolate and cheese made for the perfect romantic evening.

2006-02-13/ BOOTYLICIOUS
If you know Boutsy even a little bit, you know she has a nack for moving. In her full 9 years living in Toronto she has moved 11 times - Beatty Ave; Yonge/College; Queens Quay; Mutual St; Shuter St; Spadina/Bloor; Forest Hill; Dufferin; Beverly; and Dovercourt. You ask how I know remember this? Well for one, I have a very good memory and secondly because the whee little muscles on my body have endured great soreness 11 times over from every damn move! Your muscles don't forget! I never suspected her 11th move was gonna be out of province let alone on opposite ends of the country in B.C. would come so soon :( Miss her already!!

I have a new favourite song and it goes out to Boutsy. I know she will love it too. The song is called Violet Light by a band from London, Ont., called Raised By Swans. Ear it << HERE >>

Best of luck to both Boutsy and Raul. Make the east coast proud! I love you!!

2006-01-23/ XO SPECIAL
Lemon Slices, Part B issss UP! -- EAR IT --

This was a fun mix to do. Break out the cardboard and get ready to let your backbone slide.
You can also download it -- HERE --

Finally saw Napoleon Dynamite last weekend. Yea I know, I'm a late bloomer on this one. I thought the movie was hilarious. Total reminiscient of growing up in small town Southern Ontario farm country with some of the most eccentric peoples ever. Anyway, the song at the end of the movie is the best. Its called The Promise by When In Rome. It brings back memories of my first overnight class trip in grade 5 (so I must have been 9 or 10 years old) to Camp Kenesserie and had my first "french" kiss to my then boy crush, Richard Polkinghorne. It was so exciting. I was so nervous. haha I love this song!!

2006-01-09/ BIRTHDAY OF CHAMPIONS
Going back to work after having 3 weeks off really REALLY BITES, period!

Yesterday seemed like deja vue of last Sunday (New Year's Day) - hung over, sore and heavily caffeinated. But all for good reason, of course. A bunch of us were out Saturday night/early Sunday morning til 5AM celebrating Inga's birthday. It was like the energizer bunny of Birthdays - it kept going, going and going.

We started the night early at XO for drinks and karaoke. Its a cool place. Not at all like your typical karaoke bar. Basically, its a bunch of private rooms that range in size from small to large depending on of course, the size of your party. We could have done with a large but outta demand and supply we got stuck with a medium. It worked out for the better - having it nice'n cozy was nice. So each room has its own karaoke system so that of course, you can make a fool of yourself among friends not strangers. It was tons of fun. We literally rocked the place. We had people from other rooms that wanted to come into ours. Jon sang Black Sabbath; Morgan screamed to Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy <<That was awesome btw. I wasn't expecting him to have such a potent singing voice>>; Raul did some sappy love songs all dedicated to Boutsy, of course; and others sang to Madonna, George Michael, Sean Paul, Sinatra and a whole bunch more. My favourite was improvising to a chinese song that was accidentally picked. Thanks Morgan and Diana for helping me out on that one. It was wicked.

After 3 hours of singing and screamin we had enough of karaoke idol fame and headed over to Andy Poolhall's for some sweat inducing, gyrating inducing raggae/dancehall tunage. The music was great. The place was hot, sweat inducing hot. Great to see familiar faces as well as some old faces make it out. We shut the place down then went over to Rol San for Chinese and Birthday cake. Perfect "icing on the cake" to end a wicked night out!

2006-01-05/ I'LL BE BRINGING ALL MY LOVE & GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY IN 2006!!
Happy New Year even though this post is quite overdue by exactly 4 days and 21 hours, 8 minutes and 32 seconds on the dot, flats! It has been a really great year - many awesome good times, cool people, great shows, awesome music, good films, new friendships and old ones rekindled to fill the memory banks. I'm suspecting 2006 won't differ by much although I am sorta sadden by the fact that there will be one person that I won't be able to spend as much time with as I'd like. My younger sister, Boutsy, is moving out to Vancouver next month to further pursue her career in fashion and also to follow her sweetheart. My parents are a bit weary of her decision mainly because she's going there without a job offer but I'm confident she'll find work. She has over 5 years experience in production design, loads of talent and a kickass portfolio that'll speak for itself and contacts in the industry. Its a risk but its one of those risks that you gotta take try to move ahead in your career. I give her all my support even though part of me wants her to stay BUT at the same time I wanna look forward to the trips out there to visit them. Maybe I can do my road trip across the country finally? Who would be up to doing that with me?!

Wow, I can't believe its already 2006! Only 10 days to go til the start of the Australian Open; 36 days for Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy; 36 days til New York; 40 days to Mine and Jon's 9th year aniversary!!; 130 days til my 30th birthday; 176 days til the start of my summer holidays; and before you and I know it, 2007 will be upon us and then before before we know it the kids will be all grown up, married and then their kids will be grown up and the only stress we'lll have in our lives is choosing between the better brand of depends and apple sauce. Hmmmmm...old age doesn't seem so bad, does it?

I am not much of a resolutionist or a to-do list maker but this year I have a few (ten) IDEAS that might help slow down the pace of life by a teensy weensy bit, hopefully.
1. Visit the parents more. Time always seems to stop when you're hanging out with them.
2. Wear your favourite outfit 4 days in a row. If somebody notices, silently mouth "elephant shoe" everytime they make eye contact with you.
3. Sleep less and analyze more.
4. Go out dancing on a Monday night.
5. Have more baths and less showers UNLESS someone is joining you in the shower.
6. Play your favourite song loud on repeat and dance all crazy to it.
7. Dirty type to your boyfriend/girlfriend over msn while you're at work.
8. See more sunrises and sunsets with more skin on and less clothes on.
9. Max out the credit card on shoes and lingerie (be nice if the guys did this for you)
and finally, number 10. This one applies more to the guys but if you can join your guy while he's doing it,all the better!
10. Call in sick to work and spend your day lazing around in your bathrobe surfing for good porn.

New Year's Eve, Christmas and holiday photos are all posted in 2005 just haven't had time to add the captions yet.
